No Tears: Gothic Portraiture

In No Tears, I Intend to capture all that enchants me about the gothic, and celebrate that essence which drew me in.

How does external presentation betray one’s internal reality? Our outward identity is a delicate dance of our self-perception, lived experience, and all that seduces us. It follows, then, that the surface-level aesthetic of the macabre is both an authentic presentation of self, and yet is still - to an extent - mere performance.

Eternally enraptured by alternative subculture – that which lies beyond the bounds of the mainstream – the genderless, dark quality of the gothic shone through to me as a candle in the morning mist. This lifestyle is one delimited by an intense interest in dark romance, and a sense of community among like outsiders – other goths and ghouls who navigate the world on their own terms.

Self-expression is a reflection of that which enchants us, and no tears were shed during this exploration of the beauty in darkness.
